The vice president was saying what the president has said previously – that committed and loving same-sex couples deserve the same rights and protections enjoyed by all Americans, and that we oppose any effort to rollback those rights. That’s why we stopped defending the constitutionality of section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act in legal challenges and support legislation to repeal it. Beyond that, the Vice President was expressing that he too is evolving on the issue, after meeting so many committed couples and families in this country.

A spokesperson for the vice president emailed over further clarification on the “Meet the Press” remarks, stating in part that Biden had not fully endorsed same-sex marriage.

Hold your applause folks. We’re dialing back the remarks.

“God forbid we imply that we endorse this!”

Just do it. Make it work for you. Go for it. I am so tired of my political party having to officially tiptoe around a group of people who have the BALLS to QUESTION the validity of ITS COMMANDER IN CHIEF’S PLACE OF BIRTH. Democrats are too damn nice. We are too nice. Do you want to govern a country that doesn’t care which hole you have sex in? Because like a bazillion other things are wrong and need fixing and this is not one of them? So. Do. I. So just be that country. Do it right now.

I still cannot believe that it is 2012 and we are debating whether it’s okay for two people to get married, full stop. Then again, I grew up in a country that couldn’t even pass a law to guarantee that women were equal to men in the workplace. Land of the free, my ass.

THIS. I mean, God, good for Joe Biden, but stop worrying about the people who aren’t going to vote for you anyway. Why does no one in the Democratic Party care if they come across as looking weak and ineffectual?

People have no problem paying $900 for an iPad,” Santorum said, “but paying $900 for a drug they have a problem with — it keeps you alive. Why? Because you’ve been conditioned to think health care is something you can get without having to pay for it.”

The mother said the boy was on the drug Abilify, used to treat schizophrenia, and that, on paper, its costs would exceed $1 million each year.

“He’s alive today because drug companies provide care,” Santorum said. “And if they didn’t think they could make money providing that drug, that drug wouldn’t be here. I sympathize with these compassionate cases. … I want your son to stay alive on much-needed drugs. Fact is, we need companies to have incentives to make drugs. If they don’t have incentives, they won’t make those drugs. We either believe in markets or we don’t.

Just so we’re clear, still in the GOP primary, we’ve got the guy who doesn’t care about the very poor, the guy who wants poor students to clean the toilets at their own schools, the gay-bashing defender of healthcare monopolies who’ll let your poor kid die for his belief in markets, and…Ron Paul.

Wow, uh, that’s… special. People pay $900 for an ipad. If people had to pay $900 for an ipad every week, they’d have a problem.
